How to remove footrest rubbers
« on: May 30, 2012, 03:17:48 PM »
So I'm looking to replace my old footrest rubbers, they're just scuffed and not looking too sharp.  I'm about to the point where I'm just going to find a way to cut them off, but I thought I'd check and see if anyone had any tips on pulling the old ones off.  For the life of me, I can't get the damn things to budge.

Thanks!

There is a little hole on the outside end. Try blasting some air from your compressor in there and pulling at the same time. I have had that work to get them off. If not, you may have to cut. I have also sprayed some lubricant in the area the shaft goes through the rubber.

I don't have a picture handy or near my bike but isn't there a bolt and plate at the end to remove first?

Well, I take it he is talking about the 69-76 CB750 and there is no bolt plate on the front pegs of that bike.

the air trick for the win.   i spray some pb blaster downt he square perimeter. then blow air in the little hole on the end and pull off at the same time.  works like a charm.

Don't be afraid to put some lubricant down the hole too. Just be careful the air does not get it in your eyes os she will burn my friend.
