Will CB750F oil tank fit on a K?
« on: July 04, 2013, 02:19:33 PM »
I am wanting to put an F model's oil tank on my K and also put the F side panels on, do they swap without modification? I like the look of the F panels and plus my original orange ones are absolutely pristine so I want to throw them up on the shelf. Thanks!

Yes to the side covers, surprised me when they popped right on ,the oil bag should but never swapped on myself. Here is a pic of my K8 with 78 F bike side covers, looks factory except for a notch at the rear of one of them .
Found this bike in completely stock condition in Feb. 08. Paid over twice what my new one cost 30 years ago. Am trying to re-create the look of the late 70's Drag Bike styling.More later. 4-2-10 It ain't stock any more and I have no idea what I am trying to create !

Did you keep the original oil tank though? I know the F has a smaller cap behind the panel. I'd think the K tank's cap would hit.

On the K bikes up to 1976 they had the big dipstick that stuck out of the side cover. On the F bikes they went to the smaller dipsticks that are also on the 77 and 78 K bikes. My F side cover hides the dipstick on my K8 and fit perfectly. Here is a pic of my oil tank on my K8 that appears to be the same as my 78 F bike.
Edit : I have tanks if you need one , just lt me know.
