Anybody here ad lead additive to their gas?

 Just curious,I forgot when unleaded fuel became the norm.

Probably not.  There's some posts somewhere talking about Honda's valve seats being hardened by the time out bikes were sold.

I don't think it is necessary, but if you can stay away from ethonal gas you will be better off. Dan

IIRC, most passenger vehicles went unleaded in 1975 continuing phaseout to complete in 1986. Needing to run lead in our honda motorcycles is a non-issue, simply not needed.  Some indications are premium runs better over regular, depending on configuration due to engine, ignition mods, per vehicle.

I used to read about this in Wooden Boat magazine because of all the old, very old motors in the old boats. The take from the engineers; engine designers went to great lengths at times to deal with the damn lead in the gas and that they ran just fine thank you with out lead in them.

I suspect our engines are would be just fine on unleaded.

On a side note I heard (no confirmation; so this can be one of those internet rumors) that the mufflers on our bikes; especially my CB350F, rotted out faster due to the lead. Don't think it helped.
