cb550 - re-fitting the speedo needle, help...
« on: May 31, 2012, 02:30:18 PM »
Hi all,

I'm doing a little customisation of the speedometer on my '77 CB550 F2 and I'm ready to reassemble now. Before I do I wondered if anyone had any tips on re-fitting the needle. Is it a case of carfully pushing it back on at '0' when the mechanism is at rest? I don't want to put it all back together and find that I'm 5mph out of whack or something stupid. I've had a good look on the forums and couldn't find anything that quite answered my question.

Also note that the speedo's on this model have a needle stop pin on the outer face at '0'. With the needle removed it is possible to turn the mechanism beyond this stop point (i.e. below '0') so I'm not sure how this affect location.

Any help would be much appreciated.
