« on: June 01, 2012, 01:14:19 AM »
Looking for one new piston (STD) for a CB750 K7 engine, part number 13101-392-020.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pictures of old one attached.

Thanks and regards,

Joseph

I’m showing that piston is no longer available from Honda. Perhaps finding a good used piston will work for you?

The cross reference shows that piston (standard size) part number: 13101-392-020 was used in the following models below:

CB750F  (76) MOTORCYCLE, JPN, VIN# CB750F-2000003
CB750K  (77) MOTORCYCLE, JPN, VIN# CB750-2700009
CB750K (78) MOTORCYCLE, JPN, VIN# CB750-2800001

The ring set (standard size) is showing available, part number: 13011-392-004 and was used on the following models:

CB750A  (78) MOTORCYCLE, JPN, VIN# CB750A-7200001
CB750F  (76) MOTORCYCLE, JPN, VIN# CB750F-2000003
CB750F  (77) MOTORCYCLE, JPN, VIN# CB750F-2100011
CB750K  (77) MOTORCYCLE, JPN, VIN# CB750-2700009
CB750K  (78) MOTORCYCLE, JPN, VIN# CB750-2800001

I am not in a hurry since this is for my 'spare' engine, so I can afford to wait until I find a NOS one.  But I'm still looking, so any help would be appreciated  :)

CB750K (78) MOTORCYCLE, JPN, VIN# CB750-2800001

That piston crown doesn't look anything like the pistons that were in my F1.  I could be mistaken though, now I'm going to have to look when I get home tonight.

Thanks for the tip, but that one has a different part number and piston top is also different with deeper valve recesses.

Hmmm, another one for the SOHC mystery hour and this deserves a much closer look.

I did some checking and found that: The 1975 FO and early production 1976 F1 use piston (STD) part number: 13101-392-000 and is used up to engine serial number: 2551567

The later production 1976 F1 piston (STD) part number changes to: 13101-392-020 and is used beginning with engine serial number: 2551568

nayto550: me thinks that this would be the most logical explanation as why your pistons look different, let us know what you find.

In summary, the part number cross reference doesn’t provide the correct F1 piston/serial number differences in this case. :(

That guy on the internet that has one sandcast CB750 in every color (that guy)...
He contacted all of the Honda dealers (14,000) and went and bought up all of the standard parts. Not kidding, he was the inventer of the glowing light stick.
Go read his story.
So ho had a lot of money for his hobby. I doubt you find any parts and even if you did he could out bid you with a automatic bidding program. It just keeps bidding till they win.
