I need help loss power on 76 cb550
« on: June 02, 2012, 09:51:15 AM »
okay so yesterday I went to take off the handle bars and I pulled the four lights from the back out to paint the cover.  The ignition I took off and just let hanging there.  The battery was kind of dead so I left it charging for about 2 hours then I went to bed.  When I was working on it that night 2 of the little light fixtures sparked when they touched the handlebars and I did not really think anything of it but today I put it back on and I have no power at all and the battery is charged also.  Did I blow a fuse to cause this or a relay?

I would think fuse after a spark and sudden power loss, you didn't check your fuses immediately??

What fuse do you think it is I don't think it is one of the main four on the side

If you have the standard fuse arrangement you will have three fuses with space for two spares. It will be a 7amp fuse blown most likely.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

Your meter will tell if it is hard to see just check if you have 12v on both ends.
What fuse do you think it is I don't think it is one of the main four on the side
And why not What is your logic for thinking this please explain. You don't have four if it is stock.
Next time disconnect the battery before doing work like this.

Maybe. Not Always. Sometimes they can blow up behind the metal thing... and be kind of invisible.
Thus, even if they LOOK fine..  one should check them with a meter.
A pic of the fusebox would get better answers...as there could also be damage/corrosion to the surrounding structures if your box has not been well maintained.
