question about clear coat
« on: June 01, 2012, 05:57:11 AM »
I was thinking that I would remove my covers on the engine and tops and float bowls and bead blast the outsides.  Then clear coat them.  If I have an oven, I would do them in clear powder coat-I don't so I'm wondering if there is a high temp clear coat out there.  Has anyone any experience with a clear coat to go on the engine?

Thanks!

I don't know about clearcoat, but I did see a wipe-on product that was supposed to maintain the polish in high heat environment (for polished engine parts).

Yeah, they make a hi temp clear, but its going to be hard to get it to stick over bare metal. I would go clear powdercoat. My boss had his fatboy rims polished and powder cleared, they look good after about 8000 miles and 2 years.
