CB650 Nighthawk Exhaust question??
« on: June 03, 2012, 02:37:27 PM »
I just purchased a 1982 CB650 Nighthawk that is in OK shape. I decided that I would try to restore her and put in a few of my personal touches. I was looking at the exhaust on it and it has been repaired once so I thought about replacing them. Would the stock exhaust from a 1985 CB650 fit on a 1982?

doubt it but with a cutoff wheel and a welder anything will fit.  The 83 and newer was a completely diff bike.  I have a 84 I'm parting out and cant imagine even wanting to put one on my 82.  way bulkier.

Alright, I see what you're saying. I am more of a fan of the 4 to 2 systems than the ones that I have now. Any suggestions?

What do you have to work with?  Nothing ? headpipes?  The nitehawk originally had 4-4 and you can get slip ones to make them 4-2.  Mine had some on it when I got it.
The standard 650 had a 4-2 system that might work.  I know there might be issues with the kickstand though.

I currently have the stock 4-4. I was looking but it didnt look like slip ons would work. I will have to look again.

If your 4-4 is good dont cut them.  There are slip ons that go over  the head pipes.  The ones on my 82 are pretty nice.  i'll get a pic and look for info on them tomorrow.
