'75 CB550 Build in progress
« on: June 02, 2012, 09:43:11 AM »
Here is where I'm at so far. Just finished welding the frame and temporarily mounting the seat. I have been picking at this since September last year, and looks like I should be completed by July 1 (if nothing goes wrong on the rebuild). I have included some before pictures of the day I got it, and where it stands now. I'm still struggling with a good paint scheme for it.

Question for the experts out there: Will a good upholsterer be able to fill in the gap between the seat and the tank? Or, will I have to modify the seat pan and add more fiberglass to it?

Was there damage to the frame to have to weld?  Loving the motor.

No damage to the frame, it was straight as an arrow. I just welded the hoop on the rear with an under tray, and added turn signal mounts. The engine was pretty nasty, so was the rest of the bike. I did a lot of scrubbing, cleaning, polishing, and painting to get it this far.
