Topic: Cam cover side covers won't stop leaking oil...

I've replaced the four o-rings twice, and it just won't stop leaking from the side covers. The covers are seated squarely and firmly in the passages. Any suggestions?

Bike is a 74 550K.

too easy,it may not be the o rings,make sure those brackets that hold the screw for the covers are flat and not twisted or have burrs,flatten and file them accordingly,then throw away the old aluminium washers on the hold down bolt and use a 6mm copper one top and bottom of that bolt,i like these thin ones,i replace any sealing washer with these,you owe me a beer.



this bolt has oil pressure behind it.

i use the bottoms of broken coke bottles lester,,looks clear to me!

Thanks dave. I thought those washers had something to do with it. Wasn't sure if they sealed oil though, so that's why I asked. My washers are all worn out, so that's probably my issue
