Guinea Pig reporting in. The pipes have arrived! at first glance after unpacking the left side the chrome looks really nice and the fit and finish seem top notch there's just one thing...THEY DON'T FIT!

My headers are a straight 2"s The Cycle X pipes fit 1 3/4 pipes as per the site...you would think I would have checkd that. Also I think I need the headers to kick out a little to clear the swing arm.

And it begins.

Keep posting, please? I don't have good mufflers for my CB350F yet (1.5" headers, 4-2 now). If you decide against them, I may be willing to take them (if they the upswept ones?)

They're 20" length and yes they're up-swept ones. I'm in process of mounting them up to my Thruxton now. Good thing they came with reducers because without them the pipe would have been too large for the header. One I hear them on the bike and take a test ride I'll start modifying the hanger strap. If I decide not to use them I'll give first crack at them.

Man-Oh-Man.......THERE BACK!!!......or did they ever leave? I had those in '67 on my CB450........Yes, Mark, get a pair of straight and upswept if you want. I have seen them mounted to a GL1000 Cafe build. Just be sure you get the correct reducers.

This style of muffler has been available in England since the '40s and was stock on BSA Gold Stars in the late '50s and early '60s. They are usually referred to as a Bell-Cone or Trumpet-style.

The straights have been out of stock for some time. The shorter versions are known as "cocktail shakers"

If you really like the look, why not just cook up a more restrictive( quieter) baffle? You could make it factory quiet, open pipe loud and all points in between.

I reinstalled my D&D's. I'm not that in love with them for the Thruxton. They were meant more for the CB.

Nice! I finally realised a few years ago that if I ever decided to buy a brand new bike, it would have to be a Thruxton. I'm not very interested in anything else that isn't at least 10 yrs. old.
