750 K7/8 4/1 With Reverse Cone
« on: June 04, 2012, 04:16:15 AM »
Looking at replacing the Mac 4/1 system muffler with a reverse cone from Cycle X or Cone Engineering.

Probably have to rig up some kind of mount and maybe a short kick out angle section for clearance?

Anyone used one...........pics?

Brewsky!!!! Hello.

I have the same reverse cone megaphone muffler on my 78 and I have Cycle-X, 4 into 2 into 1 exhaust.
You may not need anything.

You will need a bracket which you will get with the muffler, and I added a rivet to make sure the the muffler cannot come off even if it got loose.

I did not want to slit the part that slips over the header because it fit relatively well but adding the rivet made me sleep better and it can easily be drilled out.

Lucky is that a 17 in wheel? if it is what is the name and size of the rear tire and the front if it is stock.

Lucky,
Thanks for the pics.......I like it!
I can't tell what the strap attaches to....brake pedal pivot or foot peg mount?
Cornering issues?
I think my MAC collector angles up a little more and might make the cone hit the rear footpeg mount (I see yours is removed)

Ken

Those are Honda CB750A wheels the rear is 17 inch. they are both the same width as the stock steel wheels.
Those are Avon 26 RoadRider tires. Front is a 100/90-19 the rear is 130/80-17
The diameters on the OD are very close.
I spent two weeks going over all the choices.

I think they look great and they are sticky tires.
The road racing people give good reports on these tires too.

The strap goes to the foot peg mount bolt.
Just wait and see what happens.

I have the same stainless reverse cone in the mail right now for my cyclex 4-2-1!  ;D I'm pretty excited.  Right now I have a mac-looking can w/ no baffle.  Is the reverse cone just as loud??  They claim to be the "best sounding exhaust on a honda hands down".  What's your opinion Lucky?

It is just for one season, you can correct your choice sooner if you ride enough :)

To me it sounds deep and throaty with a bark when you rev it. Perfect.
I drove by one Sherifs  car and One high way patrol they did not stop me.
The racing numbers on the back of my bike get more attention.

Make sure on the 17 inch rim to use the 130/80-17 so the OD is right.

The 80 profile is fatter looking and keeps the tire from being too tall.

Hmm well I kind of like the note and loudness of mine right now it's just real ugly haha - flat black w/ some dings/rust spots.  So I hope it sounds similar then!  God knows it's better looking!  Also, thanks for the input on the tire size,  I'll be buying in a couple weeks prob.  Bought a 100/90 michelin pilot activ today and I'm excited to try it out.  Rear is next.

I just ordered one of those reversed cones from cyclex, it turns out they have a 2.25 inch one that will fit the stock 78 header, and the owner there feels it will run fine without rejetting.  He also stated that the header on the 77/78 supersport is a real good performing header!!
i hope he is correct about the jetting.  We will see...

The megaphone muffler thing sounds good . Just right as far as I am concerned.

But you know its like good strats. When you find the one with "THE" sound you will know it. I have only found one so farm and I was a fool. I sold it.
