rene, if the italian importer doesnt move quickly with orders, might ask for your help.... :)

1. race compund tires dont have DOT aproval, hence not legal for the street.
2. go for the normal street RoadAttack II they will offer better grip at road operating temps and more milleage. a race compund tire wil never reach proper operating temps on the street.

Hi I use Heidenau classic race tyres, are much cheapper than Avon or Dunlop´s. Have very good experience with this.

Dont know what you mean exactly by good experience but people here with 500/4's have tried Heidenau's and went back ASAP to avon/dunlop. I currently see them used mostly in regularity racing (bracket for you in the US of A) where absolute lap times dont matter that much.
The heidenau seem to work well on lighter bikes, last year 500 championship winner with a 125 kg Morini twin raced on Heidenau's.

As for myself, really curiois how will the Conti radials work on an older 18" tired bike. There's one guy who had them as he was doing european classic endurance and he said they are fabulous in grip and  really lighten up the handling.  The Heidenaus are normal cross ply BTW.

Yes I have expirience only with less powered lighter bikes, but there works very good I think.

Been to Spa Belgium for the annual Bikers Classic and can say that a lot of teams participated in the 4hour race used the new Continental tyres and were very happy with them.

Sorry guys need to put this in here, Kevin Schwantz's yoshimura Suzuki, lovely bike.

Winner of 4 hour race, Stephane Mertens with the blindingly fast  160Bhp Dholda, with the Conti tyres.

Cheers, Rob

Hey TG,

Can't really tell for the bigger sizes, but for the 'normal' sizes around 250Euro/set. I am satisfied with the Bridgestone BT's but thinking about trying a set from Conti.

Cheers, rob

Conti will also come with a road legal version called Classic Attack with the same tread pattern. Then also available in the classic sizes 100/90-19 for the front and 110/90-18 or 120/90-18 for the rear. They are allready producing but still not available at the dealers. Talked to them at Spa and they told me , that they will be available some time this year. No date available as still some testing and certification is going on. They had a pair with them but only as show pieces.

ok, kinda fits what i've seen from here....looks like they did some short production runs to supply the big profile classic races but supply to "normal" racers is a bit slow....

not that worried, have enough tire to do another two races :)

The new Conti Road Attacks on the rims today.
This morning we received the tyres after four weeks waiting.
Some specs: Conti Attack front - 100/90-R18  Total hight 63 cm Width 9,3 cm Weight 4,4 kg
                                         rear  - 110/80-ZR18     ''     ''     63 cm    ''     10,2        ''        4,5 kg
Our 'old tyres'
                 Dunlop KR825  front -  2.75/3.75-18    ''     ''     59 cm    ''       9,2        ''        3,1 kg
                 Avon AM22       rear  - 110/80-18         ''     ''     61 cm    ''     10,6        ''        4,3 kg

So you can see the new Conti front is significant heavier as the Dunlop.
I hope therefore they are handling much better as the Dunlop and Avon .
But anyway they are much cheaper as Dunlop or Avon.

i am not surprised by the heavier weight as these are road tires with track compound after all

maybe a 90/90 front would be closer in weight? the 100/90 is indeed much taller than the dunlop, sounds like you should take this into account in the front ride height

do they have "race only" or "not for public roads" or something like that written on them?

They have no 90/90 available, we must lower the front 2 cm to get the same setup.
There's nothing written on the tyres like CR, race only or other to classify them as racecompound tyres.
We were wondered about it.
There is even a Dot code on it, we phoned with the dutch importer about it , but the guy there quaranteed that these tyres are the real CR's.

Hi Guys,
I'm looking for some tyres with a V rating ( up to 150mph) or maybe W ( 168 mph) to suit my old honda 750
Getting optimistic hey !      what is the speed rating for these Conti babies ? :-\
Cheers Johno
