Looks cool if not unstable as all hell, single downtube does not inspire structural confidence.

is it me or does it look like they've totally ditched the cradles?   i know a lot of modern sportbikes use the engine as a structural element, but is this a good idea for one of these engines?

i mean i'm sure it's just a concept bike/showbike, but still.

I HATE those exhausts!!!

A night mare to work on the bike.
A fire hazard next to the carbs.
Cannot get to the carbs.
And it is all just so the pipes can stick out the ass end. Dumb.
Makes no sense.
The double loop cradle frame was a very good design to stop frame flexing.
That frame is now compromised and that engine was NOT designed to act as a frame member. Now that engine will have to take all of the stress that the frame was supposed to support, plus what the engine cases already had to handle.

The owner needs to study BOOKS about motorcycle frame design.

The young woman looks very competent .

FTFY  ;)

What does FTFY mean?

Fixed That For You

Ya the bike's not my taste really either but I can appreciate the skill and effort to fabricate that bike - it's not like he butchered a frame or the motor....motor seems pretty sick actually.
......but you're getting sidetracked.  I only put the picture of the bike in there to make it sohc4 related  ;) ;)

Did I mention she also models with the bikes?? Holy cow.

She is just being used as another prop. not cool. If the guy really wanted to give her a chance he would have stuck up for her and had her pose with the hammer..and her hair in a ponytail, wearing safety glasses, and ear protection..like she was really doing the work, and not a quick no brainer Juxtapose shot of GIRL-HAMMER-MOTORCYCLE-equal oppppp BS.

Just bothers me really deep for some reason.

Cycle World can suck it.

She would be a lot hotter with the right safety equipment.

I was gonna say something about her being a poser.. all dainty and un-shop like. Then read the article and she isn't claiming to be a mechanic, she's just an artist who metal formed the oil tank.

She's still hot!

Yeah some people are grumpy but I will defend them by saying that the love for function over fashion is admirable.  Particularly with polar opposite crowds in the SOHC-4 world.

I think what I like most about this is a young woman that appears to have an interest in engineering, design fabrication... who knows what else.  Whatever gets more diverse people (particularly attractive young women) interested in any one of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) fields I am all for it.  If tinkering with a vintage motorcycle does that even #$%*ing better.

It has become cool to be nerdy which is great, but I doubt even half of these hipster "nerdy" kids actually really get hands on and involved in anything.
