Chain Ordering Woes
« on: June 06, 2012, 12:40:45 PM »
Ordered a chain from Montec on 5/17 as everybody said it is the best. Tried to contact them twice (several weeks apart), no response. Monday, I emailed them to cancel the ordered and bought from a different company on Amazon. Tuesday the Montec charge comes through on my credit card. Today Montec finally responds and tells me the chain was already shipped by the time they got my cancellation notice, chain will be here Thursday.

That is some BS. Now I have 2 chains. Hopefully the Montec one will be as good as everyone says.

You are leaving out the most important part of the story. WHY did you try to cancel the order?

Because I had no response from them for almost 4 weeks. I thought they were out of business or something. They don't even have a phone number to call. Also, I ordered the chain from somewhere else and I don't really want to store a spare for a few thousand miles.

Where/what is Montec?

I am currently in the market for a chain too.

If it ain't raining, I'm riding.....~~{iii}?~~prost

If it sounds like I know what I'm talking about, it's because I cut and pasted from someone else.

Maybe you two can come to an agreement on that extra chain, PM time.

Haha. Montec is a small-time place that specializes in chains. Everybody said they make the best one and you can't beat their prices with a stick. Chains don't cost that much so it isn't worth reselling it. Half the expense of the thing is shipping...

Excellent. Maybe I'll put up a free-to-first-taker motorcycle add on craigslist and use their number. "I've got this old rusty piece of sandcast POS sitting in my yard and I want it gone..."
