Hey guys...I see i haven't been around much since last October when i first bought my CBR. The past few months have been hectic to say the least.....after having a near miss on the Interceptor yesterday i realized that if something had happened none of you would have known and that in itself would have been selfish on my part not letting some of my friends on here know what happened. I will explain the near miss itself in a moment. As to the past few months. Well this downhill slide started in October soon after i purchased the CBR. I re injured my back by lifting some brake rotors for my pickup. While i was recovering from that my dr ordered a random blood test and it was discovered i have Pre Stage Type II Diabetes. So that has had me going through some ups and downs as i deal with the disease and getting used to having to take blood tests at least once a day and having to take meds twice a day. This was followed up by the other guard at the hospital quitting last minute in December and i mean literally last minute. So i wound up finding myself working 70 hr weeks for most of January and February. Went through 4 trainees in Feb, had one work for 9 shifts then quit. That was fun to discover when i'm elbows deep doing an oil change on my new to me Diesel truck...March to May found me still working like crazy and trying to keep myself sane. Which brings me to the events of yesterday....
Out for a ride to my old home town the interceptor starts bogging down and mimicking the weird running conditions that preceded my accident back in 2002 on a buddies R6. That accident left me with getting a composite knee cap and several pins in my right leg. So my heart was up in my throat once the bike started to run like that at high speed. Just under a ton and the tach is dropping rapidly...Clutch in, left foot rapid shifting from 5th down to 1st then up one to Neutral. Front and Rear brakes held on the edge of lock up trying to slow the bike down safely...Eyeing up spots in the ditch to crash land if i cant get it back down to a stop safely.....In general a scary as hell experience i never wish to repeat. I wound up pushing the bike a total of 10.5 miles to get it back to town and to my mechanics shop. That is where the bike is currently sitting waiting for him to get time to look it over and deal with any issues he finds on it. Since he only really takes on emergency work now due to his shop being a side hobby rather then a full time job. He mostly does consulting work now helping bike owners work on their own machines. So i suspect i will be learning a lot more about doing major repairs on my bikes. Knowledge that i wish i had when i had my CBs..But oh well....Maybe working on the CBR after the Interceptor will help me learn enough to tackle taking on another CB...make it an old K bike or an F and keep it somewhat stock for the win lol No real need for a cafe racer since i have a Street fighter and a machine that was essentially the start of the super sports...
