THat is a real CR kit gear set and that tall first was really only designed for DAYTONA start. The Nova is the one to use if you have the cash. With this box,  you almost have to gear it as a 4speed and after start never go back into first which is best on all bikes.

AMA Vintage Days was amazing!  Perfect weather, great racing and thousands of amazing bikes.  Attendance was 10X more than the AMA pro event the weekend prior.

Cafe Racer had a great display in the vendor area, and the swap meet had tons of great stuff.  I didn't have much time to spend there as there was a lot of bike prep going on, but I did manage to take a few pics of a supercharged CB750 SOHC that won best custom in the bike show.  Maybe he's a member here?  I'll post some pics when I can.

Sam Williams had a fraction of his amazing stable of Kaw race bikes...KZ 650, GPZ550, and bad ass Eddie Lawson KZ1000R.  Has ZRX forks, ZRX swingarm and 33mm CRs.  134 hp at the wheel and that's with a mild build.  I'm trying to talk him in to bringing it to Barber to race.  He'll have to put a 4.5 wheel on the back though, per AHRMA rules and go down to 29mm carbs.  He has modern 3 spoke Kaw wheels on it running slicks.

The biggest surprise was a very nice CBX race bike with GS1100 swingarm and other very nice bits.  Owner is from Holland and lives in Columbus, Oh.  His name is Jan (yahn).  We spoke a few times over the weekend and he just informed me that he'll be bringing that beast to Gingerman to race against us.  He has a guy from England who is the pilot.  Seem like great guys.

I won all 4 of my races and brought home 2 National Championships.

Congratulations Kevin. There were several guys from the VRRA spread through numerous classes, all had good results too.

The VRRA's Mosport Vintage Festival is coming up August 17-18-19th Kevin. It would be great to have you there.  ;D A bit last minute I suppose, but it doesn't hurt to mention.

Thanks guys.  The Cycle X gang didn't make it to the event.  I raced my CBR F3 in the 90's SS and 90's SB classes.  We had a lot of attention in the pits as we shared a garage with Dave Roper, legendary vintage racer.  There were some folks from a pretty large publication who are interested in doing a piece on me (and the Cycle X bike) but it looks like that will have to wait until next year as they only make it to Mid Ohio.

I'd love to race at Mosport.  I've heard it's the best track in North America.  Certainly not in the cards for Cycle X, as that's about a 15hr drive.  I hear the event is nothing short of amazing as well.  Please make sure to give us a report and let us know who our main competition would be if we can make it in the future.  Would love to see pics of the Superbikes in that class.

Here's a picture of the CBX that we'll be racing against at Gingerman (amongst other well sorted out bikes like Bob's)

From Ken

What you're looking at is a prototype remote oil filter system. Race bikes can be super demanding on motors.  But, even on stock Honda CB750's it is best to filter and cool the oil off the front of the motor.

After the oil is cooled and filtered the oil goes directly to the vital parts of the motor ( crank, top end, etc.).  So, with this block-off plate, oil is pumped to a cooler and remote spin-on oil filter, and back to the motor.

We found this to work great on race bikes and bikes in hot climates.

Notice the magnets in various locations to pick-up any harmful metal particles.

The finished block-off plate kit will be available in a few weeks, and is much more refined than the photo... ( because what you see is a prototype )

If I was you

What's rattling around Ken's head?  What's going on with the race team?  Check what's going on at the shop! Is this email not displaying correctly?

What's rattling around in Ken's brain?
I'll say this, his mind has been on the racing bike pretty much non-stop for months now.  Kevin is winning races and Ken can see the championship.  But what gets Kevin to the finish line is a bike that Ken lives.

Take a look at this:

What you're looking at is a prototype remote oil filter system. Race bikes can be super demanding on motors.  But, even on stock Honda CB750's it is best to filter and cool the oil off the front of the motor.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ken and Kevin took last weekend off and are preparing to invade Gingerman Raceway in Southhaven, Michigan from August 3-5.  Kevin is ready to go, and as you've seen, the mad scientist hasn't stopped innovating.  Following the time off, you have to know that Kevin is chomping at the bit to get back on the bike.

Following the sweep at Road America and the win on Saturday at Grattan, the team is poised to make some serious noise in the AHMRA Championships.

We'll update with results next week!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, we decided that you've waited long enough, so we've put the sprocket and chain combos back on the website.  Available in 3 different flavors from value to the same setup that's on the Cycle X race bike. Check them out on the website here:  Chain and Sprockets

Be sure to check out everything that we've got, especially if you haven't quite finished that project that you've been meaning to get around to.

We also want to take this opportunity to thank you again for your continued support.  We take a lot of pride in the products that we produce and none of it would be possible without you.  Thank you!

yep...I will be there.  KMC, do you know about what time you are racing at?

AHRMA changes the schedule for each weekend, but it seems like our race is usually later in the schedule.  race 7 or 9 out of 11.  lunch is from 11-12

on saturday the first race starts immediately after lunch.  on sunday, races 1-3 start BEFORE lunch, with the remainder of the schedule following lunch.

see everyone out there!

If any of your guys aren't signed-up to get the Cycle X Newsletter just send an email to the shop and we'll get you added to the list.

Hoping to hear something from this weekend's races at Gingerman, but haven't seen anything yet.
