>>>you gotta remember that you're gonna be surrounded by cages.  They don't give a damn for anyone on a bike!

Just stay in front of them.  ;D

Hmmmnnnn, well Tom, I imagine that the weather is pretty nice on your side of the pond now, so a nice long ride would be good for the soul, but don't even contemplate it if you're just doing it to save money.

If I was faced with a ride that long I'd do it over several days, staying in motels with nice comfy beds after a day in the saddle, and preferably room service too.

If you've gotta get there in a hurry, you better fly mate, when my Grandad died my Dad rang me to say he'd had a heart attack and wasn't doing too good, so I jumped in the car and left right away, but sadly he'd died in the 4 hours it took me to get there.

If I had the chance to say goodbye, no amount of money would have made a difference. Cheers, Terry.  ;)

Terry I wish this part did not come true. I was planning for making the trip and riding out. I still. She passed away ay 4:00am this morning. Let's just say that work is still getting done but I am a wreck...She died with too many secrets.

This, brothers, is precisely why it is much better to live each day without conflict with those we love as much as possible, and to TELL THEM what they mean to us, and to learn from them about themselves.

Once we're gone, we're gone. Don't hold yourself back from those you love.

Now the contemplating will Really start on a side road you didn't expect. You can still talk to her, anyway.

Will be flying out in the am. REAL early. Should be there by noon tommorow. I have faith in the bike, not me. It has been many years since I have done a long run on an old suspension. 300 miles beats me up, can't imagine 1,300 one way. ???

tom sorry to here how this worked out .
a note form one who could not be there for his grandmother . take a bit of time to think and look back on the times you did have . do not distroy your self over not making it when you wanted to as now you will have all your memory's to flood you self so let them jest be carfull when riding for a time and then talk to her I still do and it has been 4 years now same with my dad but i know there the ones looking down on me keeping me safe . so with them in my heart and mind I go forward and live in honor of them both same as I know you will of your grandmother
prayers be with you like it or not

Sorry to see your Grandma died mate, I lost my last grandparent (my mum's dad) 23 years ago, and i still miss him, he was a bike nut too, and I inherited his "thinking outside the square" attitude to engineering, which is both good and bad, ha ha! Anyway, my condolences mate. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

I just got back from the whole thing. It was all good. The flight was hell. As tall I am I felt like a 12 shyte jammed in a 2 lb bag. I will never fly coach again. This was a tough weekend, for me it was a double funeral. My dad and my grandma. I can tell you I now feel a whole lot better. Nice to finally have closure.

Must have missed the earlier posts or I would have weighed in sooner with my condolences. Glad to hear you made it through the few days and was probably best that you didn't ride out...

Did I read that right? Both your Dad and Grandma passed...damn that's rough! Sorry to hear about the whole thing and know that the boys around here have you in our thoughts...
