Good to hear Nicko.  Those kits really have some crap installation instructions.  Just for the record, I have found the stock ball bearings, in good condition, properly greased and adjusted to be as good or better than tapereds, and they need nearly as frequent adjustment too...
Thanks Sean, yeah I'd have been happy with the balls, always did the job back in the day, I'm guessing the taperds last longer though? A stupid thing like having the wrong seal in the wrong position, man this has dogged me for 9 months.

The whole rebirthing of the basket case into a thing of beauty was bloody ruined mate. The bike has been a total pig to ride up until the day a few weeks ago when I loosened the adjuster right off and the bike finally rode like I remember they used to. To stumble on the solution so I can keep the more reliable tapereds is a wonderful thing, the lower tree is just beautiful now. I pick up the barrels in two weeks (cheap 836) n then I drop off the head for new guides and then I can put it back together and finally enjoy it nearly a year later. I've also found a source for the two needle roller bearings inside the primary hub so add to that all new tranny bearings n the bike should finally run nice and smooth and idle nice n quiet. I have all K0 cam and valve train going in too for smoother running top end with rotating rocker shafts. Yee haw.
