Changed some plans on this bike.. not going to try for the big swingarm instead im going to wait till i finish this bike and start another before i do that. Love the clip ons but thinking about some drags.. havent decided on that yet. Going to wait awhile before i do a lot more on it for now

well the ole cb has sat in my building untouched for a while now. I did manage to get a nice shaved top triple. im prolly going to resume on this project come winter or spring. since my daily driver died left me in my  68 beetle the most aggravating little car. lol great runner but very finicky. prolly going to give up on the extended swingarm or this one and just re-hardtail it. maybe drop seat use my 75f front end with the clip ons and run those front disk brakes. If anyone would like to donate a master cylinder would be happy.

To my dis-pleasure the cb550 is in my mother-in-laws basement. At least its out of the weather. Sold my beetle to move about 6 months ago no space for a project bike where i moved to. Saving money slowly to have it re-hardtailed.. wished i could weld. Not giving up just had to get some more important things taken care of for my wife and son. Hoping to get back on track this winter... but still looking for nice things for my baby.

Thank you Matt.
Staying very busy in life. Haven't got a single mile in on my bikes this year..... very disappointed about that, but been busy as hell and work is hitting the season that picks up to 7days a week. hopeing to atleast have my XS850 triple bobber on the road before fall. On a positive note building tools up and enjoying every second with my son.
Life is a curvy road but those who keep the goal in mind will make it. 1974 Honda CB550 is always there, everytime i see or hear a bike i think of it. As far the bike goes goes no updates but they will come just not as soon as i'd like.
Keep it real and never lose sight of your goals.

Well I finally got around to having time to mess with the Ole CB. Went down knocked the dust off of her I turn the engine over a few times every week and my wife's little bro th er does as well. Going to start the re-hardtail in a few weeks. Stull need a good master cylinder and brake line for the front disc but no big rush. Going to get her riding again before fall. In the mean time riding this, 88 titled motor is a 82 KZ750 twin. Fun but it's still not a cb.

Well it hasn't been touched but not forgotten about.
I pulled apart a parts bike I'm going to save the swingarm off is for this. Since it has good bushing and the bushing on this 74 where bad.
I also have 2 sets of exhaust for it now depending on if I stay with the 550 or I lick out and source a 650 powerplant.
Recently I was gifted a 17 5 spoke invader so will run that with prob 2 over forks.
I remember seeing someone lace up a DT225 17 to the stock wheel or may try to get a small disc brake 17 from a GS500 or similar.
Changing plans for it. Hoping to bring it home and start on it over winter. With much more tools knowledge and ability to source parts than what I started with 10 years ago.
This bike started my love of SOHC4 BIKES.
I will show it the love. It's gonna be a build worth far less than I'll invest but it's purely for me. As are many of the creations we have here.

Found a new heart for him today. Another 74CB550. No title. Came with 2 tanks and some other goodies.
Going to part it out except the motor and carbs.

So today I went and picked up the 550 from my ex mother in law's basement. Going to take it to my buddies basement till I finish the 500 long bike.
Glad to have it back in my possession.

Had a few parts in a tote. Mostly ruined carbs going to try to save them.
A milled set of upper trees I'll blast and have powder coated at work.
A what was near perfect font end that it toast now. I'll prob use it to try my hand at shaving lower legs.

The only real update is I have some 6 over front forks coming for this bike. So soon I'll get the 17 spool invader blasted and powder coated. figure out what bearing I'm going to run in it and get the appropriate spacers/bushings made. The parts bike I got in 2022 is parted out except the motor and carbs( motor is in the corner of my buddy's garage). I'm not sure what set of carbs came of it right now. I'll be getting all my extra carb stuff together soon to go through and build a couple extra good sets.

as of right now the tentative plan is to
add 5/8 degrees rake on the 6 over front end
run the 17 spool 5 spoke invader
extend the swingarm 4 inches
solo seat
run a old set of mac drag pipes I bought for this bike in 2012
GS500 rear wheel and disc brake setup
axed alien gas tank
narrow set of "Z" bars

Will be a very "bar hopper" style bike this time.
Of course ill ride it much further and more often lol
