I used to be a big Bicyclist...often rode 100mi a day (I should do that now!)...Bicycles have the right of way over anything except someone on foot...at 20, I was probably a little foolhardy, but I got used to TAKING the room that I needed. I never allowed anyone to force me into riding along a row of parked cars, or crowding me at stoplights...I think that attitude stuck with me..Now I tend to ride fairly close to the centerline, except in the case of the oncoming left turn, where I usually move to the right side of the lane, and sometimes flash my lights, and stare the oncoming driver in the eye, sometimes pointing at them....I also always (even in the car) try to leave a lot of space between me and the car in front of me, even if it means speeding up to pass a slowpoke, or slowing down to force someone to pass me..I also often try to wear white to be seen.
There's nothing you can do about somebody who hits you and obviously is criminal about it, but I just try to stay away from them...likewise, I don't really like to ride on 4 Lanes...to much wind, too much speed, too many people in a hurry..if I'm in a hurry, I'll drive my car..
