Hi there    I'm new to this forum. Just picked up a 550K for a couple hundred. I plan on restoring it. It's in poor shape and doesn't run. But it cranks over. According to the Honda Manual there should be continuity between the spark plug wires on each coil. And the 2 plug wires on a coil are justs ends of the same 2ndary winding. So how come  there was no continuity with my 2 coils and a bunch of others I checked at a used parts place? There is continuity between the black/blue and black/yellow primary windings.    Thanks, Greg/Massachusetts

It's a high resistance. What are you testing with? A test lamp won't work. I don't have the specs here but 5000 ohms is a guess, any ohm meter should read that. If you're measuring between the spark plug cap contacts, add 10,000 ohms as each cap usually has a 5K resistor.
You should have low resistance between the primary wires (around 5 ohms), a high resistance between plug wires, and no reading (infinity ohms) from either plug wire and either primary wire.

Bodi I think that is 14000 to 15000 ohms or 14K to 15K without the caps. ICBW where is TT
CB550KGUY that is from one spark plug wire to the other. Your meter needs to be on the 20K range if you have one.

"2ndary"

Really?  You'll type out "Massachusetts" instead of the universally accepted "Ma" but you'll skimp on 4 measly letters?

Anyway,

I can't answer your question, but I guarantee it's already been asked.  I'd start with post number 4 in this thread.  If that doesn't answer your question, use the search function as it's really helpful.  Good luck!
