****Shop Floor Opinions Wanted****
« on: June 13, 2012, 10:36:32 AM »
Still trying to decide if I should spend the $2,300 for epoxy or try this Sears rubber flooring which comes in colors other than black. I have included a pic of the sample epoxy which has flakes of white, beige and dark green.

http://www.sears.com/craftsman-beige-polypropylene-1-ft-x-1-ft/p-00961018000P?prdNo=3&blockNo=3&blockType=G3

Anyone try any of it? Opinions please...

Did you ever see the floor cover for horse stables? Thick black rubber, comfy to stand on and durable. TSC carries that.

I have floor from old deck boards in my shop and the cracks between drove me crazy. Cant count how many times I had to fish something out - put these pads down in critical areas like my work bench and reloading table and I am very happy with it. Check it out.

They are getting $5.50 per sq. ft. which includes dustless grinding down the very top layer of the concrete to ensure a good bond. Fill dings and expansion joints with semi-rigid epoxy joint compound. Prime coat of 100% epoxy applied to create a uniform surface. When cured a 2nd coat is applied and color flake media added. Then a top coat of clear high performance urethane is applied to lock the flakes in place and provide a non-slip surface. Start to finish is 3 days. Warranty is 2 years on product not including expansion cracks.

$5.50 a foot is expensive, I  wouldn't spend $2300.

Only if you pay someone else to do it, i do this for a living.
Those mats you posted look like flake floor finish you can do in epoxy, its fairly easy and looks the same.
Did an office lunch room in the same colors as the mats only this week, all in epoxy and flake.
There are a few members here that have done epoxy floors with great results, fastbroshi is one that comes to mind.
I gave him a few pointers to make it easy and it turned out great, send him a PM and see what he says.... ;)
Use quality products and it will last a very long time and be very hard wearing...
