Started thinking about my front end today when I picked up my front wheel. #$%* this thing is heavy, so I have a CBR front end I was going to use with my CB750F did some measuring and it should mount up with the tapered bearing I got. I think the whole front end weighs less than My CL front wheel. LOL We will see what happens when I start throwing it together next weekend.

Tank turned out pretty good, but a few spot need some more work. Cleaned tanks rust out with magic acid work really well.

Got frame ready for motor, but discovered clutch case had a hair line crack in it. I knew the case had a deep dent in it,  but did not know case was cracked until I positioned motor on it side to side frame over it and discovered it leaking oil. Inside of case looked bad weighed cost to have it welded or replace. Had some concern about moving parts hitting so I got a replacement case of e-bay for a good price. Also picture of inspection of top end.

Used construction seal seal and masking tape work well. Tank with some color on it.

duplicolor polished metal met is the name of the color. Think it will look good with the honda decals.

Came up with this I am sure someone has done it before. Used my vise and ratchet strap as a spring compressor. Looks funny but worked great, just thought I would share it with everyone.

Looking forward to the finished product.  Single color on the tank, or some stripes to match the frame?....Larry

I thought about a stripe of orange, but don't know how well it will match the orange powder coating. Thanks for you comments.

You could have a local graphic place make up a stripe design.  The kind that could be removed if you decide you do not like it. I designed the type on the tank in my avatar then gave the shop a print out.  They charged me $20 to turn it into the removable decal...Larry

I found a cool decal off ebay from a company who makes vinyl decals. Hope the orange color matches.

Clear coated some parts today. I am waiting for a gasket for the clutch case to show up so I can install my motor. Ordered a decal off ebay for my tank, think it should look sweet. Did some clean up to the CB450 today, and strip the old front end off while I wait for parts for the CL. A quick look to see what the CBR front end would look like.

BTW the dual leading edge cable brake is standard on the CL with a 19" front wheel.  The CB had hydraulic brakes with a 18" front.

Looks like a nice project.

Little update things are going slow, but making some headway. Really like the look of the front drum brake and tire together.

Picked up a CL 450 exhaust for 10.00 bucks, but muffler is rusted out may cut them off at start of muffler. Not sure about no baffle or different  back pressure.

And the stopping power of the front is adequate as long as one rides "normally". ..Larry

I was hoping to fire bike up this weekend, but it did not happen. I got some fab work done on speed gauge. New chain cut to length and installed. All cables and brakes hooked up. Making custom mount for new brake light and license plate. New plug caps and spark plugs in. Bought some Uni foam air filter,  I think they will fit inside of side covers,  which would be cool.

I cut off rear fender, made a custom mount for new tail light and license plate. What do you think?
