1975 CB350F Value?
« on: June 16, 2012, 05:48:05 PM »
What's this bike worth?

Here's what the owner says about it ..."Well...tell ya what. I got it out of the shed and it looks a little more worse for wear than I remember. I would be willing to drop the price to an even $1000. It is a CB350Four, 4 carbs, 4 pipes, 9135 miles. It is pretty much complete. I have the battery cover and rear signal lights at the farm which I will get. There aint too many of these old girls around anymore so I wouldn't want you to miss out."

Also, is this too small for a big galoot like me (6' 3" 225lbs.)?

If it's a 1975 it'd be priceless  :P, since I'm pretty sure they were only made for 72-74 (3 years). But maybe that was only in the US and they sold them in other markets for longer? So, you'll want to clarify for sure what year it is.

As far as too small, your weight will be OK as long as you don't want to pull 70 mph on the expressway. I weigh 230 and mine was WOT and struggling on expressway. But for backroads and 55-60mph she's a sweetheart. 6'3" might be a problem, I'm only 5'10" and she feels OK, but a little small, especially when I first get on her off one of my other bikes. The small feeling goes away after a couple minutes and I fit right in but 6'3" might be a different story.

They're really fun little bikes if you respect what they are. If you want to ride it hard like a modern bike and expect it to perform you'll be disappointed. If you want to be entertained by how frickin' cool it is to ride a 40 year old set of four
Honda 90 cylinders in a row, you'll LOVE it! I love mine.

In my opinion 1k sounds like a lot. She'll need new exhaust for sure (probably have to gin up your own, nothing aftermarket available except OEM replicas for $1200!). Also will need two tires and tubes (200ish), and probably a bunch of other little stuff that'll add up to 3-500 easy. So,  if she's pretty much all there and in decent shape, with just some money and TLC to be thrown at her, offer him $700 or so. More than that and it's a love story between you and the bike, meaning you're doing it because you want the bike, not because it makes sense.

Yes, too small for you in my opinion, unless you like small bikes.

I agree on it being too small. I'm 6'4" and 215. My 750 is about as small as I would want to go. If riding two up, I'm cramped for leg room.

I paid much less for one in better shape. But it's worth whatever someone will be willing to pay for it.

Noodle out what one in very good shape is, subtract from that what you need to put into to get it there (keep in mind that in all likelihood you'll never get your money out of it so it's best to do as much wrenching yourself).

I just rode my 74 350f over 2500 miles in the GZ Relay.  I am shorter than you at 5/8 but I weigh 250.  the bike ran well and I had a blast.  I carried a number of tools, my clothes (lightly packed) a large can of chain lube, water etc.  did it slow down going up hills?  yep, did it need to be down shifted? yep would I do it again? yep after i get a new chain since the one i have is stretched out of adjustment.

$ 600.00 - $ 700.00 tops. It will cost you $ 1000.00 or more to get it road worthy and a reliable ride.

Your size would be a problem but I'm certain you would find riding one a blast.

Way to small a bike IMO for you. Like Bob said, I'm 6'2" and 232lbs and my K3 for road riding is as small as I'm gonna roll on.  8)

This is what you really need to keep in mind anytime you buy a bike that's been sitting for a long time. I've fully resurrected two bikes now and that figure is about what I had to invest in both bikes (and that's including everything)

+1 on the $1000 to make it nice.  Tires, paint, chain, oil, points, plugs, air filter, rubber parts, maybe a throttle cable, heck, lacquer thinner and mineral spirits will be $20.00 just to get it wiped down.  That being said I just bought one for $200 so they are still out there and affordable.

Not quite; MAC still produce a 4 into 1 for this bike which will probably rit away in a couple of years.

the fair price of these bike is VERY regional. Youll really have to comb craigslist and talk around your city(s)
One person cited buying a bike for 200, that is impossible where I live. 700 would be a steal.

I have a 350f and honestly that might be a little small for you. I LOVE mine and it doenst feel too small, but im 6'1 175.
Two inches taller and 50 lbs heavier is quite a bit. Throw your leg over it and see if you feel cramped
