i picked my 94ST1100 for just under 3k great bike but a little beefy

if i could swing it i would go for one of the new nx700s a little out of your price range but brand new with payments you might be able to justify it

After 19 yrs riding only CB750s I got a Vstrom in 2010. Best choice I made at the time. I kept my 2 CB750s and now have a VStrom  ;D. VStrom has done 24,000 miles since I got it in all weathers, temperatures, is a great bike for long distance riding, very comfortable....sort of like my K4 really but with a V-twin and a fatter seat :) I ride all my bikes all the time. No conflict here ;) Dosent matter what you ride as long as you enjoy it.

Here is the VStrom

The CBF1000 I rented in Scotland for 5 glorious motorcycle days

Damn Andy, you get around don't you?  Believe it or not, I actually saw one of those down here in Texas in a gold hue.   Some guy was riding up to Alaska on his ST when it decided to belch something out of the oilpan, so he bought one in Canada.  He did his riding on it up there, came back home, and promptly traded it in on another ST.  Go figure.  Good looking bike though.

I like the newer Triumph Bonnies or Thruxtons but funny thing is they look like vintage bikes so not too modern I guess.

Maybe a BMW F650GS for commuting to work and back, something that could handle heated grips and a plug in suit would be nice.

Ive had the itch to buy another Victory Vegas Jackpot.  I owned one for a short period a fewyears back and would not mind having another.  I loved that 250 rear tire.  The bike was short, fat and obnoxious. . . just like me.

I have only owed 1970's bikes and, I don't need to tell you folks but I have that invisible classic connection to them. It started off as the scenario of: ....  hey, a cheap bike! I bought one, 20 years ago and 3 bikes later, have never looked back or had the desire for anything newer. The only one, (if you had to put a gun to my head) :)
that I wouldn't mind owning is the 2nd Gen CB900F (AKA: Honda 919).

I think, because I become so mechanically involved with knowing the bikes, its also a comfort zone thing. why move away from something that, is still cheap to play around with, and that you know how to work on.

We got a Honda Goldwing for 2 up riding and I had a 1980 CB750F given to me so that will be my "modern' bike for solo riding. I don't like parking my K1's any where for fear of damage and because may times I have people talking my ears off about them. I'm a worry wart!  ;D  Cliff.
