so who makes "" cleaner""  headlight ears that would fit my 1978 cb750f that would be a bit more streamlined without the tubes for the blinkers?

The stock blinkers mount there so you'll also have to come up with an idea of which blinkers to use instead and how/where to mount them. If you just want to do away with front blinkers altogether then that's certainly an option at the cost of safety.

Cheap Emgo headlight mounts are available in just about any aftermarket parts catalog. They clamp onto the upper fork tube.

That's what I did. Cheap Emgo headlight mounts, flush mount signals on the cheap Viper windscreen. Do yourself a favor and drill through the backings of the flush mounts so you can bolt them in place. That glue won't last a year.

your forks are 35mm (unless you have a GL swap) so any 35mm fork ear should fit. there are tons of options out there from the cheap end (emgo) to high end (TTR400) and anywhere in between.

your best bet is to search ebay at first and see what people are selling. Motolana has a few different designs but their stuff is expensive and it ships from thailand. TTR is out of south africa.

I see these all the time on ebay - pricy but they look neat:

Whoa! Those do look pretty nice, Geeto. The Emgo's bend easy, so if you wanted something solid those look like the ticket.

It's been a few years since I installed mine(78 F), and I forget some of the issues I encountered. Mainly it was the clearance between the headlight shell and the ignition switch base plug that took some finagling to get right. Would steer clear of any ears with short mounting extensions(or whatever you call the headlight mounting tab).

a friend of mine used these off an 860GT on his bike. He made a set of collars which shimed the 35mm fork to 38mm and held them in place with a set screw. lot of work but it is a real minimalist design. His came from a bin in the back of a shop because $150 is way too much to spend on a set of bent wire. Still might not be a bad option for those with a GL fork swap (GL fork is 37mm, these are 38mm):
