Topic: Sources for wire

I have all the solid jacketed wire in the world to choose from - the local hardware store sells very high quality wire on spools to my amazement.  What I cannot find for the life of me is striped wire.

Surely someone makes striped wire - it's not like there are too many options out there.

Does anyone know of a source for striped stranded wire - say 16 AWG that doesn't come from some seedy place in China or doesn't look like a fly by night?

And to answer your obvious question - of course I can use shrink tubing to mark the wire.  I just prefer to do it the 'right' way.

Dime city cycles too. Who knows their supplier. You could also use a spare harness from a member, I will sell you one really cheap.

I would use wire from a car if you have real picknpull places around you

any of a dozen hot rod supply houses found on line have what you're looking for including fabric wrapped with stripe identification markings.  Here's one seller on ebay that has different stripe wire markings available.

Plan b...go to your local auto salvage yard and buy a gm or ford harness and cut out what you need.  faster, better, cheaper.

After u find the right wire a nice wrap is key to keeping it all clean
I used a ton of this stuff to cover wire on the mustang i built, its great stuff and it can be heat shrink wrapped on the ends to give a nice clean look rather than that corrugated crap they sell at auto parts stores.
