Is this throttle return spring safe?
« on: June 20, 2012, 06:22:39 PM »
The original owner seems to have removed and/or lost the throttle return spring and used some sort of light spring home remedy for his carbs.

Before I get this cb350f going, I'm going to need a new spring, but this is the only one I can seem to find! Is it safe?

Might be a little stiff. Just go to a hardware store and get a spring of the proper length, should cost less than $2 for one.

Please oh PLEASE don't spend that much money on a spring for your carbs..

Post in the parts wanted section if you haven't already.  That price for that part is pretty ridiculous, aside from it's obvious corrosion.

Your 350F throttle return spring is part number:16036-323-004 and shows no longer available from Honda. :(

However, the part number cross reference list shows that same spring part number was used on the following models listed below.

Disclaimer: The cross reference list is usually 99% accurate, but I have found discrepancies in the past.

if your spring is light to pull but still returns the slides positively itll be ok so long as the hook part is secure over the ferrules and the spring isnt being over stretched, the genuine ones are very strong,,too strong.

And with a properly adjusted push-pull two cable setup, a strong return spring is not needed.

Hell, I have two springs on mine.  It came that way so I left it.  Works fine.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

Did not buy it. If you have one, I'd be happy to take it off your hands! (You wouldn't happen to have some cb350f handlebars and mirrors, too?)  :P
