Is Broadway Title still around?
« on: December 31, 2006, 08:02:22 AM »
I'm just curious, I'll be needing to get a title for a bike I'm working on, but they have not responded to my emails. Just want to see if someone has recently dealt with them and if they are still in business....

ITS? Just for reference, I'm trying to register this thing after it has been given to me, so I have no information on an original owner or anything...I'm trying to find a company to do this...

International Title Service.  Should be able to help you out.

From reading through their site, it seems like I need to have someone to sell it to me, ok, it was a gift, I'm still in contact with the person who gave it to me, but I am unsure if he is the last titled owner. He received it in a trade from someone without a title. My only concern is that since the person I got the machine from isn't the last titled owner, then when it is run through the computer, it will conflict with the information...

Orrrrrr, can I just sort of conjure up a bill of sale, and hope it will go through on ITS's side? The bike I have isn't stolen or anything, I've ran the VIN through the Florida computer, I just have no information about it..

Call ITS, when I did, he said I read it wrong on their website, he told me different then what is listed.  I want to say that you make a note and get it notarized that no way no how is vehicle with vin .... is stolen, and they take it from there.

Ok cool, thanks for all your help, I'll give them a call and see what the deal is. Thanks again.

In California, if a vehicle isn't registered for 3 years it drops out of the computer ... UNLESS it was reported stolen (even then it can eventually drop out of  the DMV system). I think if you have a statement from the friend you got it from and if a VIN search finds no history of theft, you'll probably be Okay.

I had to get a new title for my bike a couple years ago, but in my case I bought it from the original owner who'd lost the title. But, the DMV didn't have any record of it in their system, so who I bought it from was really irrelevant. I had a statement of facts from him. after paying fees, got a 30 day permit to ride it to DMV for inspection, no problems.
