Sprocket o-ring
« on: June 22, 2012, 08:35:10 PM »
So, I just got the wheel back on and finally got the chain hooked together, looked down, and the sprocket o-ring was stuck to the old sprocket. So, how necessary is that thing? I don't have a centerstand so taking the wheel off and on was a serious pain in the rear and I don't want to do it again.

Hate to say it, but it was put there for a reason. I would put it back on for piece of mind. Probably used to keep dirt and moisture out. Just does not pay to cut corners with these vintage bikes. They lasted this long for a reason...good design and mechanics. Chalk it up to experience and put it back in. Just my 2 cents my friend. Let us know how you come out.
