What's up fellow 4's!
« on: June 24, 2012, 10:12:44 PM »
Hey dudes!!!!

I've been following this site for over a year now while I got my bike up and running- a completely stock '74 cb550 with 16k miles on it that was given to me by a reeeeeal nice dude i know. It's in excellent shape, even had the original owners manual with hand written matching frame/engine #s!.  It didn't run and needed some TLC but it's friggin awesome now!

I've always been into Hondas, I grew up riding dirt bikes and I could alway beat the hell outta them and had a blast ridin xr's an z50's an my favorite- the atc 70's. My father owns a 71' 350 four, I think it's a ck which was kinda like a dual sport bike that I have photos of me as a baby sittin on it. It currently sits in the dilapidated shed, siezed up since the early 80's (last time we tried to start it).  Whenever I'm at his house I look at it an wanna resto it but too much cash needed...another time I guess.... So along came this 550 an I'm happy as a pig in #$%* being able to own a cb and ride it too!

It's a black beauty and it runs real strong. I've put about 500 miles on it since I got it running. So, I did the first 120 mile highway ride to a beach rental and got some time on my hands to post here, polish it up, try to get my wife on the back an take her for a spin.

I'll try to post photos soon...

Thanks for havin me!!

Anyone have any method/luck for uploading photos from the iPad??

Howdy!  Welcome. :)

Sounds like a nice bike for a great price!
The frame and engine numbers shouldn't normally match unless one or the other has been replaced and renumbered.
Do you have a copy of the Honda Shop Manual or Parts List for your bike? Get one here:

I think he is saying the ones written in the owners manual match what is stamped on the bike.

Welcome! Sorry I missed you last year. Good looking 550! I have a 75. Those pipes are nice!

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!
