Hey guys, new member here, figured I would post up my recent build. 1979 CB750, based on the 10th Anniversary model. Loads of changes from stock, reshaped and recovered seat, paint, new lighting package, etc.

Welcome to the forum booligan;you're 79' has almost a GS1100/Suzuki Katana look to it, Nice.

I like the look of the black down the side, breaks up the white nice. Go with paint though, vinyl is only good for putting on turntables. If it were me I'd find a different instrument cluster, something a bit more low profile. My wife had something similar on her 78 400t2, she found and installed a mini speedo and man what a difference in how clean the front end looks.

Yeah, I've debated building a smaller cluster to throw up there. The factory one sticks out like crazy.

nice job on the bike!  i agree, smaller gauges would be slick, but it still looks sleek!  i love the white.

+1 on the black vinyl.

Go with paint though, vinyl is only good for putting on turntables.

Which universal LCD gauge units are people using nowadays? Anything good on the market for not too much cash?

Trailtech has a few nice, not too pricey units.  I think the Vapor is the most common one.

Freshly washed her up, possibly showing it at a small show this weekend.

So, here's the game plan at this point:
1. New 2.25" gauge package. I'll be using a mini tach and speedo with built in idiot lights. I have a concern that running the indicators into a single LED caution light will either disable the flash (maybe not with my digital flasher relay) or cause both sides to blink at once (because of the silly way these were wired.) If this happens, I'll build a little aluminum filler panel with two new indicator lights to solve the issue.

2. CB900C front fender, media blasted and powdercoated white to match the bike. I'd go with paint to match, but the process of totally dechroming the fender to prep for paint sounds like a giant load of ass that I don't want to do, so I'll probably be powdercoating it instead.

3. Small vinyl stickers for the sides, based on the 80s F model. They'll just say CB750, doing the white/black/blue color scheme for these.
