PD42 choke shaft in PD41A carbs???

Anyone know if I can put 77-78 PD42 choke shaft in my 77 PD41A carbs. I am looking to do this to do away with the little half circle plastic clips as I can't source them anywhere.

The 3 plastic clips on the each choke shaft that the seals seal on
