« on: June 28, 2012, 03:37:45 PM »
today i went to the bank i was inside for about 20 minutes as i was walking out i looked at my bike and noticed it was leaning a little to much it's so freaking hot out my kick stand was melting into the asphalt. i think in another 5 minutes it would have went over.reminded me of a old insurance company commercial

You can buy a little thing to prevent that. I carry a large washer in my jacket pocket that serves the same purpose. It's handy when parking on dirt or grass also. Glad you caught in time.

My second "K Series" BMW, a "one owner" 1992 K1100LT, had a PO who really pampered it, but there were 3 occasions when disaster struck. First time he had it parked on the centre stand in 43 deg C temps and the tar melted below it and it fell over, doing 2000 bucks worth of damage.

The second time, he'd just parked outside a gun shop and a drug addict accosted him trying to bum some money off him. My mate Pete doesn't have a lot of tact, so he told him to pisss off. Pete walked into the shop and heard a crash, looked out the window and the druggo was running up the street. Pete is pretty unfit and had already had one heart attack by then, so didn't bother chasing him. Damage? $2200.00.

Last time, (just before I bought it) he had it parked in Victoria Barracks here in Melbourne, and a couple of BlackHawk helicopters flew into the barracks and got too close to the area where all the mtorcycles were parked, and most of them fell over. The damage was just under $2500.00, which pete claimed on his insurance, and also put a claim in against the government, and was compensated to the tune of $3000.00.

Once it was repaired again he ordered a new BMW R1200GS and sold me the K1100LT for $3750.00. I almost dropped it in my driveway turning it around, which would have been bad, I didn't bother insuring it. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I would drive that bike over to your local Parish and have the Priest give it a heavy blessing and a good soaking. Would not hurt to light a Candle while you are there.  ;D ;D ;D ;D Can't be too careful.

Ha ha, nah, I sold it in 2009 when I bought the Triumph Bobby, in hindsight, I probably should have kept it. ;D

When we went to the Louisville flat track races the motel owner handed out small wood squares to protect our bikes and his new blacktop. He also carried a gun when we were there.

Why did he need a gun Don? To put down any bike that keeled over in the heat? ;D

Do I have to wait for them to keel over in the heat first Dave? It's pretty cold here today? Cheers, Terry. ;D

Terry,

I lived there for 18 years. There were a few areas and times when I packed my 9mm in the car.

Don,

Too bad they shut down, huh?! When were you there?
