750 Gearbox reassembly - countershaft
« on: July 04, 2012, 12:44:34 AM »
Hi Guys
Not sure about the reassembly I've done on the gearbox thus far....can you check the photo - is the left fork positioned correctly? Middle fork -  OK that goes onto the mainshaft later and the right fork - seems to sit nicely on a track to side of that gear - but the left fork sits on the countershaft spline. Hence if I spin the cluster around by hand lightly.. while holding up the middle fork, the left fork makes a rubbing sound - as it goes bumpity bump over the raised splines of the shaft....hmmm.. Went back to my photos prior to dismantle - damned if both of this shaft an't blurry. Appreciate some advice.
Regards
Mark

Hi, yes you have got the wrong cog on the end of the left hand side of the countershaft. The shift fork should sit in a guide which is part of the cog, like the other countershaft shift fork does, so the gear can be smoothly moved to be engaged or disengaged from the adjacent one.
If you go to the cmsnl website you can view the microfiche there for your model and this may help you. It is item 13 on the CB750 K3 transmission fiche, yours will be similar. The particular gear just fits through the bearing holder hole.
Good luck with it.
