Mikuni vm24 carbs with and w/out air screws
« on: July 07, 2012, 09:58:04 AM »
Thought I'd ask you guys since KZRider isn't chiming in.

Got two sets of carbs for a 77 KZ650, both are vm24's.  The one that came with the bike has air screws, the other set does not.  Both have pilot screws, which is where the problems start.  The tips of the pilot screws broke off in 2 of the carb bodies, blocking their passage into the main carb throat.  What (if anything) can be done to mix and match carb bodies with and without airs screws to make one working franken-carb?

Of course, if anyone has bright ideas as far as removing small bits of brass jammed into pilot screw passageways, I'd be interested in that as well.

I know there's some franken-carb builders out there...
