brake discs
« on: July 02, 2012, 04:34:21 AM »
Has anyone any information on C.A.T. engineering?  I sent my discs away, complete with cheque for £492 in september last year, i have rang, but it goes to answerphone, i have sent emails, with no reply, now this is holding up my build, should i hang on, or should i take legal steps? after all he did cash my cheque a week after receiving it.

I have just received a email from C.A.T. and they are refunding my money. They say they cannot locate any material. So does anyone know of anywhere i can obtain 2 new brake discs for a 1976 cb750.

Tony, I'll have a look through all the stuff I have just bought when I get home next Tuesday.
Give me a bell after 6pm to remind me.

Hi Tony

As far as I'm aware new brake discs are no longer available (731 euros from CMSL the last time they had any) . Try DK spares, they usually have plenty of good used ones.
Flea-bay turns up a few, but usually from the USA, but the shipping for such a heavy item could be a bit steep.

I'm really surprised CAT have refunded you - must have real supply problems but then I heard that unless they could get an offcut at the right diameter they had to take "stock bar" and it weighed 50 tons so they couldn't deal with it....

There is a new scandinavian company advertising brand new discs manufactured to your offset, pattern and diameter for something like £400 a pair. I can't remember their name (three letters!) but it's all over the classic press like Classic Bike, Practical Sportsbikes etc....will see if I can find a number for you.

Hi Simon, yes he said, he could perhaps get me a set off one of his customers, but not sure if he could replace them, as the company he got his material from, had gone through. so he would refund me the money, i will wait and see what Sam can come up with.

Tony, not to get your hopes up to much, Im not 100% sure what I have.
I bought a bike a few weeks back and picked up boxes of parts that I didnt open.
I know for a fact that he had a few parts bikes so there might just be a few spare discs in the boxes.
