Stock counter sprocket on a 1973 CB350F?
« on: July 02, 2012, 08:09:48 AM »
I have a feeling my 350F has at least a 1 or 2 tooth smaller counter on it because of the way it runs. It has more bottom end than I expected, and it is more well, excited sounding when I am at or near freeway speed or 65mph. It is only running about 4500 or so RPM when at 55 so is this normal or shouldn't it be at about 4500~5500 at 65 or 70mph? I am going from memory so will have to actually note the rpm at speed thing but this is close. I know it doesn't redline till 10k and I did do 90mph on it last night so it is fast.

RPM should be 10mph per 1000 RPM in top gear (with stock gearing).

Not at all! I'll do it tonight and report. Another 10mph and 1K drop is perfect! Right now, it just feels a tad buzzy at exactly 65mph so if it dropped K that would be it's sweet spot!

Mine is perfectly smooth at 55 so if I gained 10mph at that rpm I would be well chuffed!
