Cb500 top triple tree fabrication
« on: July 06, 2012, 07:55:36 AM »
I've searched for a billet top tree for my CB 500 four since I'm going to run clip on's but can't find any.

I've seen an old thread about interchangeable trees so get rid of the clamps/indication lights when using clip on handle bars so I figured that there are more than me that would be interested if there were to find.

I start my third and last year at bachelor of science in Engineering in product development and design this fall and got access of the schools CNC shop so I figured that I could make a pair or something.

I thought that i could ask for expertice, measurements, requirements on design and so on here so I don't have to reinvent the wheel so to speak.

Any input on what aluminum alloy to use? I know that Wrenchmonkees use 7075 for their trees.

Anyone that know what alloy that is used on the original?

I will 3d scan the original to compare strength etc to the one I will make to know that it will be a nice part.

Other features that would be wanted?

Cheers/Christoffer

Doing one like that wont be a sport, would it? I would like to make them really nice and dont leave anything untouched!

Then of course some like that look to!
