Cycle X 970kit

Ok, I am interested in the Cycle X 970 kit. They want lots of money for the
machine work. They have to weld in between 1&2 & 3&4 because the large
cylinders will break through. I wondered if anyone here has any suggestions
as to a glue like JB weld that I can fill in this area. Been searching for a high
temp filler type glue. Lab metal, marine glues etc. I can get the other machine
work done locally cheaper. Welding in between fins would be a #$%*. All
suggestions welcome.

I doubt that will work. The cases can expand .004-.0019 thousands of an inch.
 JB wild does not expand and contract.

Go to APE for their 1000 kit. Big Jay (owner/member here) can do your cylinders without breaking through. Can't say if it's due to a difference in the new sleeves each use or how it's done. If Jay does break through, which can happen, then he will likely epoxy the opening.

The machine work will require your cylinders to be heated to remove the old sleeves, bore the cylinders for the new sleeves, press in the new sleeves, bore the new sleeves and deck the top of the cylinders to ensure flatness. It ain't cheap! Anything larger than 836/850 is not cheap and will require this. Also an added expense will be new stronger rods. You'd better consider heavy duty studs too or it won't be long before stock ones stretch and you get head leaks and loss of cylinder pressure. Big Jay/APE is the only manufacturer of those as far as I know.

How about just doing a 836/850 but get the extra performance with head work by Mike Rieck?!

I'm not selling CycleX short here as they've been doing some serious #$%*. Just providing some ideas for other options that should be considered.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

for large jugs Etc. Just need a Big Kit and yes heavy duty studs for top end.
Wow, nice work on the Big Block, love the fins for street use cooling. RC Big
Block never had fins. Did not have time to read all 24 pages in thread. Anyone
own one ?????? Please chime in ---------- I may have to save up a few more
pennies for one, I have everything else for a big bore!!!

Correct, the block alone is $1499. A bargain when you think that a new OEM 4-4 exhaust costs just less at $1300. You are getting a piece of quality and precision machining for that kind of money.

I own one and its a work of art, may by another . Mine is all aluminum with nikasil bores, no big sleeves to worry about and a substantial weight saving.... {did i mention it is cool as hell}   8)

All you would see is the block , its all packed away. I won't start putting it together till i get all the parts i need to finish it, i will post plenty of pics then... Unless you just want to see the block.?

No....plating is additional. I wish I could sell a package for that much but there is a substantial amount of machining time just making the cylinder.

Wow, sounds like with plating, pistons, gasket's etc. the cyliders and all will cost $2500-3000. Sorry toooooo
much for me! Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that you took the time to solve all the problems with a stock
block. And I can see all the time spent to make it. If I could I'd buy one but outta my reach. I'll have to go the
old fashion way punch out sleeves install bigger, seal cylinder breakthough. I looked on youtube and alumiweld or
durafix welding rods may be the answer.
