73 CB350F, eye candy
« on: July 01, 2012, 09:31:59 PM »
Got my gauges to sync the carbs, have a gas analyzer coming in this week so I can try to get her on the mark to pass emissions (after pricing collectors insurance it appears to be cheaper to the the tools to have her pass emissions than by the insurance).

So here is a shot of her fairly well cleaned up. Still have some bits to add like the front signals. If July 4th is under 100 degrees I may just get a chance to work on her. :)

The number one pipe (far left outside pipe) has some rust so it would pain me to purge the whole lot just for one pipe but there you go. Maybe I can run her that way for a long time. :)

I really lucked out on this one. Which not too good 'cause now I'd like a clean CB450 and a '77 750F. woot!

When you get that 450, and if it needs a swingarm rebuild: I just started making the new collars. Honda quit these early last year, so I am taking them up (like I do for the 350F/400F). SOMEONE has to keep them on the road, why not us? :D

I've never heard of a bike having to pass emissions let alone one that was made in 73.  I hope my state does not start doing that.  I have a 72 Ford Maverick with a 351 in it.  If it ever has to pass emissions it will never see the road again.  I only drive it under 1000 miles a year so I don't think that I am destroying the world.

You're not.. And I bet that Windsor could be tuned a little leaner to get it to pass , older engines were not necessarily as dirty as  all that.

At about 400 HP it's not going to pass emissions or a gas station.  It's not a Cafe Racer its a GS Racer.  I can run from gas station to gas station.  It's a fun, light, power full car that has a 4 speed manual transmission that only adds to the fun.  So when its nice and I am not riding a CB750 I can run through the gears of my little hot rod.  I love my life.

Emission testing for bikes is going away, just not sure when. Until then, we must do what we have to do. It's not that big a deal.
