USA played a good 2nd half, but blew it in the 1st. Howard should of stopped that 1st goal....elementary goalkeeping!

Now who do I root for now that Italia and USA are out......Go Mexico?!!?

Where are you hotpocket?

Heck yeah Mexico, got to support our neighbors to the south!

um no.  probably different in Illinois but here everyone roots for mexico and against the usa.  plus mexico plays dirty against us.  what's to like?

there are a handful of us players that are of mexican and hispanic desent, so for me its only natural for me to want them to win, so we can get some more players for the USA.

Plus a lot of countrys out there play dirty so its not really a big surprise that Mexico plays that way.

But I always want Spain or Portugal to win just out of proncipal.

Wow, two terrible calls today. Not saying they would have changed the outcome, but the flow of the games definitely changed. Lampard scored and the ball was clearly over the line, and Tevez was clearly offside on his goal. FIFA has to have some way of quickly reviewing these calls so as not to interrupt the flow of the game but still get the calls right.

I didn't see it but the rule is the ball has to totally cross the line for a goal.

I suspect the Brits don't think that goal was particularly elegant, but I seem to recall they thought the same thing about George Washington's army.  ;)

Hey Bob, wasn't George Washington a British Army officer before he was reborn as one of your "founding fathers"? I suspect that he learned most of his soldiering skills in "the old country", ha ha! ;D

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

oh, don't get me wrong. i got nothing against mexico.  i played with some hispanic kids and they were all better than i was.  i just don't like their national team.  seems like every time they play us they play dirty.

When mistakes are that big it detracts from the skill that is shown when playing the game. One would think that with all the money in this game that there would be a push for a video ref for these types of incidents and diving, the dive that resulted in Messi  being red carded was a joke.

I can't remember which match it was , i will ask my son and post it later. Messi was looking the other way and this guy ran straight into him and did the "he just wacked me in the head" dive and the ref red carded Messi.......stupid

i think you're thinking about the brazil v. ivory coast game.  that sounds like the card Kaka got.  if that's what you were talking about, i agree.  that was a low move by ivory coast.

I decided to take the opportunity to ride on empty roads yesterday afternoon. They were deserted!

Got home at 5:00 and checked the score so didn't bother to watch the game.

I did catch the end of the third one-day-international (cricket) vs Australia though!

i think some cable gets it.  but i don't get cable.  which means i've been watching most of the games in spanish cause the regular network stations aren't playing much.  :(

you got a goal robbed and we got 2 goals robbed. Now ours didnt end up mattering, no telling if yours would have mattered either, but it would have slowed the momentum of ZE GERMANS.

they'll be in the final for sure.  their side of the bracket is gonna be so much easier to win than the other side.

Well, maybe our team (Dutch or the Netherlands) can beat Brazil, (it will be a tough one),

Hi Steve, i hope it is a Brazil, Argentina final, both teams are playing well and have plenty of flair but those bloody Germans look very tidy at the moment.... ;)
