Biffy, Brazil will kick ass mate, they're the best, full stop. France just tore up Spain 3-1, so I hope your other predictions are a little more accurate, ha ha! cheers, Terry. GO BRAZIL!! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Terry, we (the Brits that is) have been at war with the French for 1000 years and nothing pains me more than seeing them beat the talented Spaniards.  Look out Brazil.

And I can never work out why Steve, I mean, the Germans traditionally beat the crap outta the French every 50 years or so, then you guys go and beat the crap outta the Germans (albeit with help from us and the Americans) for beating on the French? What's the story there?

If you dislike the frogs so much, why not just let the Germans beat up the French for you? Is it just because the Germans are beating on YOUR enemies, and you take offence because they didn't ask you for permission? I can't work it out mate, life would be so much simpler if you had Aussies for neighbours, you can't beat us at anything, ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Sorry to see some people in this forum have the anti-italian bug too. Re: that penalty - you telling me, that he intentionally went down? Choice between a clear breakaway and going down, and he chooses the ground? Know yer football before saying such a thing.

I honestly have seen no more diving from Italians than I've seen from any other squad in this world cup, and I've seen many games. I just love how people tow the line and continue stereotypes, not based on their own observations, but on what they've heard others say in the past. THERE! Thats my rant.

Having said that, I felt for the Aussies. The Italians, and probably every other team has been dealt hands like that in the past. I also admired the way they played and was sorry to see them beaten in that fashion. But beaten they were.

p.s. that red card handed to Italy half way through the game was a bad call. :P

Go Italy! (But damn Brazil looks good. And the winner of Argentina-the greatest divers of them all :o- and Germany will be tough to beat).

The organizers need to keep the TV figures up and I’m sure the have a word with the ref’s before the games, Italy is going to get better TV numbers than Oz so out they go! good or bad call by the guy blowing the whistle…… IMO  ;)

I have reffereed many games in middle/high school teams.

Luckily most kids have not learned how to fake tackles etc etc. But the Italian DID take
a dive and it was a terrible call.

Nothing against the Italians, but if more yellow cards were issued to "actors" on the pitch,
the Italians would not have made it this far.

News Flash:

An Australian man has been arrested in Italy for an assault on a local man after the World Cup soccer match between Australia and Italy.

Witnesses say the Australian was approx 20 yards away when the incident occurred.

The victim suffered a fractured skull, had a cardiac arrest on the spot, and has developed diabetes as a result of the incident.

He is expected to recover in a few minutes.  ;D

Ok all joking aside for one minute, and I'll say the referees have been far too conspicuous in this tournament. Unfortunately, until they bring in video replay for foul calls, you'll always have players on the field abusing the fact that the ref is just one set of eyes (plus his linesmen) on field level. They don't have the benefit of slowed down plays, at different angles etc....

I don't care how many little league games you've seen, THAT WAS A FOUL.

GOOOOOOO ARGENTINA.

Don't ya wish you were one?  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Well I almost was one Tim, but my grandfather Heinrich moved from Argentina to Australia in the early 1950's, or I might have been playing for "The old Country"?

Hmmnnnn, funny thing for me is I could never understand why Grandpa had such a strong german accent if he came from Argentina? I asked my ma but she told me that we were never to talk about it? Oh well, I guess it must be like Canada where they speak two languages? ;D
