The US team is over rated, what was it ranked, something like #5 comming into the tourney?  I don't think we have a chance to get to the second round. We havent even scored a goal yet!  That goal we have is from the opposing team!
Let's see we have to beat Ghana and Italy has to defeat the Czech's.  Ghana's boys have speed on their side and they don't get tired easily.  We have pretty good D, but our offense is #$%*e.  Our passing sucks and we don't get good shots at goal.  One on one though, we have some kids that can play.  But once the ball leaves their feet, the pass is usually intercepted or blocked.  The Italy v. Czech game should be pretty good.  Just as long as it not officiated like the US v. Italy game....That was horrible.
I don't like hatin' on the US, but I call em like I see em.  It hurts me to watch a game with the likes of Brazil, Spain, Argentina, etc because their so good, and their game is on such a higher level, while were stuck on the ground floor.

I'll still watch the US match though.  Isn't it my duty as a citizen to show support for the national team and mabey get into a few fistfights over national pride? ;D

I guess it's hard for you fellow americans not to rule in such a widespread sport discipline. I guess you don't take curling or horse jumping to seriously, but if the world over lives around soccer, it would be great to be the world champions, wouldn't it? ;D

No problem, just have Bud or any other major beer sponsor the TV broadcasting. As soon as people get used to it interest will grow and teams will have more money to put into it and train the "players-to-be". You will have to overcome the "soccer mom" stereotype first...  ;D

Terry, you remind me of that character in "American Beauty". You know, the homophobic army man. As him, you are homophobic and work in the Army. Well, you've seen the movie, haven't you?   ;)
Raul

No Raul, I haven't seen that movie, I thought it was about horses?  ;D

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

ITV had Shane Warne as a pundit for the last Aussie match...

We were subjected to his in-depth knowledge of the modern game (and his woofta haircut)...

He may be a god in the world of leather and willow, but a footy pundit??

Fair go Steve, Shane might have a "Woofta" haircut, but apparently those hair styles are all the rage with his English county cricket team and they begged him to wear it that way?

I suppose for the money that they throw at him to teach them how to play real cricket he can afford to compromise now and then. But He's no homo mate, just ask half the slags in Britain, he's been through them like an English curry, ha ha!

Whereas I was watching Englands greatest living soccer player, a certain Mr Beckham, and if he isn't a handbag swinging little queer, well, then Raul's got good taste in movies! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Ha ha, yeah, those Brazilian babes are magnificent Dave, no question. Re: my ancestry, well, your ancestors sent my ancestors here from Ireland in 1802, seems they got a little annoyed with us for starting the "Catholic Irish Friendly Society", now known as the IRA. Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time.......................... ;D

Put your money on the "green and gold" guys, we just drew with Croatia, and we want to stay! Getting us outta the world cup after so many years will be harder than getting the US out of Iraq! (thank God there's no oil in Germany.....) Cheers, Terry. ;D

That's pretty cool if Brasil win. I'm traveling to Curitiba (Brazil) in mid July for two weeks work. I hope the celebrations last till I arrive...  ;D

Don't hate it mate, remember, we look upon New Zealand as a suburb of Oz anyway, so join in with us and cheer on the Green and Gold! And yeah, I'd rather watch the brazilian female supporters than their team, ha ha! Cheers, Terry.

Ok,
I honestly never thought USA would make it past the first round.
They really needed to have Tweelman in there to score. You can't win if you don't score.

Have lost all 4 bets I made so far on other teams, but will predict this:
Sweden 3, Germany 1.
Brazil 2 others 5. Ha ha.
Mexico wins it all!!!!

michel
Terry, good luck to the Aussies, but I don't think they'll go much further
