Go South Africa!

You know, I think the Soccer powers,(  France,Italy,England,Germany, etc ) looked fat and lazy compared to some of others who looked like they were hustling, and I for one would prefer to watch those who hustle, in fact I've seen high school teams that showed more drive.

yeah I agree 100%. The USA and Algeria gave it their all today and it deffenitally showed. Not to mention the Aussies played like their lives depended on it. Not to discredit the English but everyone expects the English  to play like they did today.

I wish we could have the first game over again...... :-[   On a side note, Germany was the only country to have exclusive rights to test the new ball, a lot of countries have complained that it doesn't react as a normal ball does. Have you noticed the amount of mistakes the keepers have been making? and some of the weird bounce the new ball seems to have..

Oh yeah the ball and altitude have been playing a massive role in the way the balls has been flying and bounceing. The algerian keeper, who has been a great keeper, had a lot of trouble holding onto the ball and controling it, not to mention Green's miss, tough break for the English but, great for the Americans. Glad to see both the US and England move on, because they were deffenitly the best teams in the group, and bad calls against the US aside, they played their hearts out, and I am glad to see Donovan that happy, because lets be honest his World Cup days are coming to a close some time soon.

Well done us,  ;D ;D ;D ;D OK, well done you and us, chuffed we both got through, you had some crap calls made against you. I would take a bigger inerest in football if they brought in video refereing. The ref misses to much and there is to much play acting, OK they are players but none of the has an Equity card. ;D ;D ;D

The problem with the referees remains, Sam, with the FIFA having to let referees that have little exposure to top class footie. I doubt even that some of them are fit enough to last the whole 90 minutes.
Fortunately, in the knock out stages more top flight refs are used.
Still, players like Henry manage to bamboozle even the best of them

Agreed, but when Dempsy gets a intentional fist in the face, in the box, no ones sees it and no call is made  ::). In American football, or Handegg, the refs review the videos, I mean I understand that if you had someone calling EVERYTHING then the game would drag on and they would have an additional 20 minutes of play time added to every game. But I think that in situations where you have a player walking off the field with blood pouring out of his face, that would be worth a watch, and anything else that would warrant a PK, because a PK can change the game outcome in seconds.

First France and now Italy, these teams have fallen from grace.

I personally want the Kiwis to win it. I am an Italy fan, but i do not want them to move on, especially when they have been playing this way.

If they had a single video ref, diving would be a thing of the past, it would take less than 5 seconds to review and the diver should be given a red card straight off, diving would disappear very quickly. Diving is the main reason football isn't more popular, particularly in the west.

The Italians lost, can't believe they are out in the first round, they are now a disgrace to their country!
It was a good game though.

As far as i am concerned they were already a disgrace, they are a bunch of cheats that didn't deserve the last world cup, if there was no diving in football they wouldn't have a game plan......they deserve their loss...

Ya have to give credit to the Kiwi's for what they accomplished.  ;D

I thought for sure they would move to the next round.
