Cripes! That was bad. The Argies were lucky to get 0.

Football flair and fantasy - 0, dull super-efficient long ball football - 4.

Now for the 2nd part of my prediction to come true,
Germany has to win.

Netherlands was lucky with an offsides goal and
they wilted at the end.

Well, the psychic octopus has decreed that Spain will win the world cup. For my part I hope it proves right as I like their football.

I really like soccer.  I did not care much for it until I saw the Bundesliga and attacking football.  The World Cup final sucked .  It was defensive and lacked any excitement as two teams with no offense fouled and fouled me to sleep.  It was the kind of game that makes Americans hate soccer.  Give me the Germans the Argentines and the Brazilians.  Streaking toward the goal end to end ,fast paced soccer.  BORING!

Hi,

It wasn't a nice game to watch, but that's so typical in the final match.
Stakes are too high, no one wants to loose, so both teams play defensive and went for the counter.

Yup, it's usually the semis that are the exciting games. Perhaps it would have been better to see 2 teams from completely different schools of football (south america/Africa/Europe)
Anyway, anybody wanna buy 10 brand new football stadiums; seating capacity of between 50,000 and 75,000? Each used an average of 2 times? Contact the South African government.

I lived in Atlanta during the 96 olympic games.  Billions were spent on stadiums infrastructure and the like.  Ted Turner did fund a stadium for the braves so we did get Turner field...we also got dorms a Ga.Tech that are sinking into the ground, a multimillion dollar shooting facility that is seldom used and is falling apart and mostly used for storage.  A velodrome that finally was scrapped and a practice facility sold for ten cents on the dollar.  Atlanta now considers itself an International City because when you get mugged you can no longer understand the muggers when they talk as they run away.

We did hear that everything built specifically for the Games in Atlanta would be razed to the ground ones the Olympics were over. Such a waste.
I read once that the people of Montreal only finished paying for their Games a couple of years ago. Almost 30 years of hiked taxes for a couple of week's fun. Go figure.
Is there any major city in the US considered "safe"? Or am I being naive??

Most of the cities in the US are fairly safe as long as you are not looking for illegal activities or just plain stupid.

The 1994 World cup in the US was the only world cup in history, that EVERY ticket to EVERY game had been sold.  ;)

In the US we put huge police protection into events like this.  The Georgia Dome is protected by large groups of secusity and police but when downtown is empty at night the place is a ghost town for the public and the police.

Nah, doesn't have to. We can start putting a political slant on our postings and then one of the mods will move it into the "Political" area of the forum, loads of guys will chip in their tuppenny's worth, and it'll continue happily ever after.
