old bike - new rider St. Paul, MN
« on: July 07, 2012, 09:23:27 PM »
Hi all,

Finally got my barnish 1976 CB550F running a few weeks ago and went for my first ever ride on a motorcycle. (after owning the bike for four years) AWESOME! (and a little nerve racking) In two short weeks I've racked up almost 500 miles!

I could go on and on about my bike but that would lead to questions that are better left for more real posts. (It was blue but has a gas tank from a 1978. Oh and it has a wiring harness from a '78 too. Once I figured that out and had a real actually correct wiring digram the electrical system made a whole lot more sense.)

I've been having lots of fun both on the bike and in the garage and this forum has helped enormously. Thanks and I hope to someday have enough experience and knowledge to actually participate in discussions instead of just reading and reading.

Cheers.
The solution is painfully obvious once you know exactly what the problem is.
