check oil pressure with oil sending unit?

I stripped all the wiring off my bike. Don't have a pressure gauge yet but I want to start er' up. Can I put a meter on the oil sending unit and be able to see when it pops above the 7.5lbs?

Not my strong suit. But no pressure should show continuity. Pressure will break the circuit and no continuity.

No, as far as I know the senders are not analogue ouput units, just a switch that turns off when a preset pressure is reached.

Wouldn't a continuity tester show continuity when hooked up, then deflect when the switch turns off, from pressure?

An idiot light with its own power source?

Yes that's right, it is a normally closed switch.
