Terry, over here I can get Simple green at Walmart, Home Depot, Canadian Tire and a few other places as well. Hopefully you can find it in Australia, it works really well as a first stage cleaner.
brewsky, I pulled all of the o-rings and fiber gaskets off prior to boiling. They were clean enough to let the bike run and idle well but leaked from the float bowl gaskets, so I figured I'd do a thorough cleaning while I had them torn down for the gasket replacement. The only rubber pieces I left in we're the throttle shaft bushings which are rubber, Simple green doesn't hurt rubber or plastics. It's Eco friendly and biodegradable, as it's just a surface cleaner and degreaser among other things. It's safe to touch and dump down the drain when your finished. Smells nice too.
Dave500, hahaha you dont know the half of it. Now I just need to run through the brakes and I can take that beast around the block and see what else needs attention.
